It istrue some lenses are better adapted for the taking of photo-graphs at night where bright arc lights shine directly into thecamera, and in such cases non-halation plates will also producethe better results. Incandescent lights do not usuallycause blurs by halation unless over-exposed. A little halationaround the brighter lights, if it is not too sharply defined, isnot altogether objectionable, as a little haze gives a truerappearance of what is really seen with the eye. It is utterly impossible to give a definite time of exposurefor a night photograph any more so than for a daylight picture.Night photographs are shown that were taken where con-ditions were the very best; where many brilliant lights threwtheir bright rays upon the scene to be taken and when thenight was a wet and rainy one so that the wet pavementscaught and reflected every particle of light.
