rendering. My per-sonal observation of the plates shows that it has a thickeremulsion than the autochrome and consequently a greater lati-tude. The exposure is about the same and the manipulationspresent no difficulties. As I said before the problem of color photography is onethat is advancing a little at a time and the Dufay dioptichromeis certainly a step in advance. To my mind the ideal colorprocess will be one that will permit of a single exposure beingmade in any camera with any lens, and that can be made witha snapshot. The picture also must be capable of being printedon paper in colors. So far this has only been done practicallyby the three-color process, but if the screen plate is made for ita set of three-color negatives can be made from it by contactin a printing frame through suitable filters same size as theplate. Some day I expect to see such a plate on the market,and we can then say they have made another step in advancesame as we now say about the Dufay dioptichrome. 32
