his prolonged exposure, if a blurredeffect is not produced by objects passing in front of thecamera. There is no danger of this provided that the objectsdo not remain stationary for too long a time; in fact thepictures here shown were taken at a time when the streetswere filled with people and cars and other vehicles wereconstantly passing to and fro. One point to be guarded against,however, is when any light appears, as automobile lamps orelectric cars, etc. The lens must be temporarily shieldeduntil they have passed and disappeared from the field of thelens. The view of the City Hall illustrating this article wastaken on a very windy night, the branches of the treescontinually swaying during a very long exposure, but a glanceat the picture reveals not the slightest blur. Of course ifthe lamps move, it will be impossible to make a good exposure.Yet perhaps the greatest danger is not with the objectsthemselves, but with curious or careless persons who areliable to move the camera. 104
