Text Appearing Before Image:
ray breaking over rocks, the shutter should bereleased just as the spray is rising in the air to obtain themaximum effect. 52 SWEET SIXTEEN. Harry D. Williar. When using a camera on moving vessels exposures must, ofcourse, be short enough to avoid blurring of the image, andsome allowance must also be made for the extra strength oflight. Under these conditions 1/50 to i/ioo of a second ex-posure will be quick enough to overcome the motion, and amuch slower speed of shutter can sometimes be used withsafety. Any clear, soft-working developer, such as Edinol or metol-hydro, is suitable for the work under consideration, the greatthing to aim for being to obtain a clear negative with fulldetails in the shadows and soft high lights which will not printchalky. It is for this r^eason I have advised what some wouldcall very full exposures as they allow the shadow details toappear first in development, leaving the general contrast andstrength of high lights under the control of the photographer.
