Afrikaans: Azande-, oftewel "Niam-niam"-krygers in gevegsuitrusting in Manziga se kraal naby Niangara in die Bomokandi-streek van die Kongo. Hierdie krygslustige stam het hierdie meer vrugbare gebied tydens die laat-19de eeu uit Soedan binneval, en is tans sterk gevestig. Intussen het hulle heelwat materiële gebruike van hul buurstamme, die Mangbetu, Makere en ander, aangeleer. Manziga, soos alle belangrike Azande-hoofmanne, behoort tot die regerende Avungura-clan. Die Azande glo oorwegend dat hulle as diere gereinkarneer sal word, en dat die Avungura dan leeus sal wees. Manziga is een van die belangrikste inboorlinghoofmanne om Niangara, en regeer oor 'n groot gebied. Hy is buitengewoon intelligent, en vertoon besondere takt en diplomasie in sy omgang met die Belgiese administrasie.
