Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Also known locally as the "Mammy Shack," erected in 1819 for the Mammy of the original family of the property at 108 York Street. In 1913 the "Mammy Shack" was converted to include a Carriage House by Alice Graham Smith. In the 1980s the structure was remodeled to include an addition across the rear and right side. The rear addition included additional storage in the rear of the garage area, a modern kitchen, a modern laundry room, and a modern large full bath and closet. The addition to the right of the original structure includes a master bedroom with french doors opening onto a brick patio. It remained unoccupied until the property was purchased by author Jim Turner in 2013 and restored in 2014. It is now a private, rented, permanent residence. When visiting the area, please keep in mind this is a private residence and stay on the sidewalk or curb. This home is not open to private or commercial tours.
