Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Albert Hall awaits its next use, Huddersfield Road, Brighouse - geograph.org.uk - 596086.jpg |
English: The Albert Hall awaits its next use, Huddersfield Road, Brighouse The Albert Theatre and Opera House opened in 1899. It was a also a concert hall and cinema showing 'talking pictures' in 1906 (with the sound on gramophone records). Its name was changed to the Kingsway. It closed as a cinema in 1972 and became a bingo hall. Now the façade has been stripped away ready for its next use, exposing a pediment over the side door (and another one at the other end). The name 'Beckwith' is not from a previous shop front, as it is painted onto a steel beam. |
