English: Statue of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Baronet (1787-1871), by Edward Bowring Stephens (1815-1882) against the city wall in Northernhay Gardens, Exeter, where it was sited after gale damage in 1930. According to http://www.exetermemories.co.uk/EM/_art/art_statues.php#Acland , "in the ensuing years, the eminent gentleman's head was lost to vandalism, along with other bits of his anatomy". The Aclands are a major family in Devon's history. |
