Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe 'Jeanie Johnston' in Bangor (1) - geograph.org.uk - 846783.jpg |
English: The 'Jeanie Johnston' in Bangor [1] The 'Jeanie Johnston', a replica of a 19th century sailing ship was built at Blennerville, near Tralee, Co. Kerry, in 2002. Her design is based on the original Jeanie Johnston, a three masted barque that was originally built in Quebec, Canada in 1847 by the Scottish-born shipbuilder John Munn.
The replica ship now operates as a sail training vessel, a famine history museum and a corporate entertainment venue. See both http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanie_Johnston and http://www.jeaniejohnston.ie/ for more info. See also 641171 for a view of the ship in Belfast taken in 2007 and 2847932 for geograph images of her in other locations in the UK and Ireland. See also 844411, in Bangor at the same time. |
