English: The 'Horse and Jockey', Well i' th' Lane, Rochdale A no-nonsense pub where you can get a good pint, in this case Samuel Smiths of Tadcaster - note the Yorkshire Rose proudly displayed, even though we are in Lancashire here. There are quite a few Samuel Smith's houses in Rochdale, because when the local Manor Brewery ceased brewing, the business was sold out to Samuel Smith's. You won't get a better pint - remember, Inspector Morse used to drink it! |
