English: The American Clipper Electric of New York a Havre, arriving... Sandy-Hook 1854

The Electric is shown flying an early form of the flag of the United States of America, before the arrangement of the stars in the top left canton had been officially codified. The small vessel in the foreground is the New York pilot boat ‘P’ (see H. Parker, ‘Catalogue of the MacPherson Collection’ (unpublished). The engraver is given as ?F Sala?
