Description Before long, we are in Vientaine. There is really not much to see in Vientaine, except to chill out and relax. The slow, leisure pace this place was one renowned for is now changing, as the Govt. is now getting its act together and encouraging free enterprise. But it was important to check off Vientaine from my list of places to visit. I'd allotted only two half- days for this city- post lunch on the day of my arrival to tea time next day when I was to leave for the Unesco World Heritage listed town of Luang Prabang. Very close to my hotel in Vientaine was this monument called That Dam, or Black Pagoda. Notes in the next caption. (Vientaine, Laos/ Lao PDR, April 2014)
