Summary
[edit]DescriptionThalassornis leuconotus.jpg | White-backed Duck, Thalassornis leuconotus. A peculiar African waterbird that resembles stiff-tailed ducks in morphology, but is actually closer to whistling-ducks and forms a distinct and ancient evolutionary lineage. Contrary to the vernacular name, the white back is hard to see in living birds, as these animals do not like to fly, preferring to escape danger b< diving. |
