Description
English: Mac Dynasty    1527 - 1592

B47      Dai Canh Thong Bao 1530-40     T172, S96 24.5m (47.1 - .4)

B48      Quang Hoa Thong Bao 1540-46     19m inner field (48.1 - .2)

B49.1      Vinh Dinh Thong Bao     1547 Small, thin coin uncertainly attributed to this reign. T175, S98, N81B

The Mac Family at Cao Bang    1527 - 1592

B52.4      An Phap Nguyen Bao 1592 -1677     Barker suggests that his 52.2 (2nd col. p.149, note numbering error) (23.5m, 2.57g) was used as a model for private mints. These two specimens, cruder in appeearance and lacking reverse rims, are good candidates for first generation circulating copies ;

B52.0      An Phap Nguyen Bao 1592 -1677     Common, light-weight version whcih Barker suggests are 3rd generation circulating private issues. T42 B52.0a          —         —     — brassy version with crude calligraphy. B52.1a          —         —     — wide rim version but calligraphy like T42, not B52.1

B53.1      Thai Binh Thong Bao 1592 - 1677     I think this is an ordinary Chinese Sung coin. See Hartill 16.16, S460 B53.2v          —     23mm, 1.96g, calligraphy as 53.2 B53.2+          —     Barker discusses the possibility of this reign title's use by the rump Dynasty in Cao Bang Province T165v, (53.2, .3) ;     B53.4          —         — large chars., 2-dot Tong & other style differences. B53z          —     Zinc specimens which appear calligraphically similar to Barker's specimen, 23m, 1.82, 2.52g. They appear to be well aged, and the zinc argues for Vietnam, but possibly unpublished.

B54.0      Thai Binh Thanh Bao1592-1677     T166, N53a Barker discusses the possibility of this reign title's use by the rump Dynasty in Cao Bang Province & notes this version is unlikely such an issue due to its commonness. Thin coin. B54.1+          —     Flat head Tranh, straight dots in Binh. (54.1, .2) B54.3          —     Small chars. Broad rims.

B57.1      Chinh Nguyen Thong Bao 1592 -1677     Possible issue of rump Mac dynasty. Small coin. T278, N64.
