Description
English: Central rectangle is an applique of embroidery on gauze with two Chinese poems on the left side and a rocky scene with bamboo trees and flowers at right within a red embroidered border. In four lines below the central scene is a Spanish translation of the two poems embroidered in black. A vine and flower garland embroidered in chenille and metallic thread forms the outer border.

  • Inscribed: "El hombre de mucho poder y que nada codicia, es como este arbol llamado ____ [illegible], su naturaleza en llegando al otoño apetece el viento, y plantado frente de la ventana, recibe por la noche los resplandores de la luna que pasan por medio de una densa nube azulada. En llegando el otoño los arbolitos se disputan su hermosura, reciben el influjo del cielo y tierra naciendo al lado de peñas, ellos desean producir flores dorados segun corresponde a su estacion, y por lo mismo quieren conseguir su hermosura en medio de este cielo y tierra."
