Description The Texas Peace Officers' Memorial on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol, erected in 1999 by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, is a tall granite obelisk surrounded by the names of law enforcement police officers and corrections personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1823, when the first Texas Rangers were commissioned.
