Description
English: Teutonic

Medium includes graphite. This presumably shows the ship iced up on the north Atlantic run (in 1895) after she came into service in 1889 and presumably rendering assistance to the American schooner in the foreground flying the stars and stripes upside-down as a mark of distress.

It is an illustration for 'The Graphic' which identifies the incident in 1895.

See The White Star Liner "Teutonic" rescuing the Crew of a Schooner in the Atlantic. See the illustration for The Graphic, 2 March 1895.
