English: 100kg is carried by one cable, which branches into two. Each of the two branches would carry half of the weight from the first cable, 50kg. However as the cables branch out, with a gradient of 1 in 5, the 50kg weight is multiplied by 5. The stress carried by both branching cables is equivalent to 250kg, each. |
