Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Most pictures in this set have gps locations, and can be found using some map. In 1999 one of the largest basilicas of Jordan was excavated on the 900 meter high hill Tell Mar Elija (Mar Elias). A three nave church, it was founded by the priest Saba, in 622. There are fine mosaics with floral motifs. Although not a thread of evidence was found, the local population considers this to be a spot where the prophet Eliajah - the first great prophet of Israel, dwelt. This is one of some views of the church part of the larger complex.
