  • Scope and content: This document relates to the 1934 San Francisco maritime and general strike, providing information about the history of maritime workers on the Pacific coast, unionism, and Communism/radicalism in the labor movement of the 1930's. Labor leader Harry Bridges began his rise to fame during this strike and became a subject of investigation by the Immigration and Naturalization Service for his alleged affiliation with the Communist Party.
