Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Teignmouth Pier Teignmouth, as a seaside resort, was a product of the railway age, the pier being built between 1865 and 1867. The pier has survived a number of threats to its existence, including a plan in the 1870s to dismantle it and re-erect it at Paignton. The pavilion at the end of the pier was destroyed by fire in 1954, and considerable work has been necessary to prevent the pier collapsing from the effects of scouring. Today the pier has the usual rather tacky collection of coin-in-the-slot amusements.
