Summary

[edit]
Description

Tawny Eagle ( Aquila rapax) in dark morph. Hessaraghatta, Bangalore.

This place used to be Hessaraghatta Lake or Reservoir created by building an earthen dam across River Arkavathy originating from Nandi Hills in 1894 to provide drinking water to Bangalore. Now the river has gone dry due to land modification and development. The lake too is just a dry barren land. The rich avifauna of the area is fast vanishing too.
