Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Kurşunlu Cami (Tavşanlı)

It is located in Kemal Zeytinoğlu Street. Its other name is Hacı Veliyüddin Mosque. It was built by Hacı Veliyüddin as a masjid in 1377. It was rebuilt from cut stone during the reign of Abdülhamid. The architect of the mosque is Mih Ahmet. The minbar was made by Sıtkı Usta. It has a square plan and is known as the "Kurşunlu Mosque" because its dome was later covered with lead. It is well-decorated with calligraphy by the calligrapher İbrahim from Tavşanlı and by one of his students, Hacı Kadıların Mehmet Efendi (Özer). There are drawings also, which is rare. The epitaph on the inner door was written by Haci Lenger Han, who was buried in Tarsus, from Afghanistan. The narthex, which is closed on both sides and forms the entrance facade with three arches, is covered with two small domes and a vault in the middle. The mosque measuring 7,09x7,26 meters is entered through a small door. It is covered by a dome with a centre of 5.90 meters, sitting on the pedestal formed by triangular surfaces, after the square walls. The base of the minaret and the narthex are made of cut stone, the top of the minaret is made of only bricks, and the walls of the mosque are made of cut stone and several rows of bricks.
