Description

17.32 hours and all's well. The Interhotel Gera, built 1965-1967. No sign of the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/sludgeulper/3231804870/"> Barkas courtesy bus</a> of the Interhotel. Perhaps it is out at Schloss Burgk. Apparently, there is now a shopping experience where the hotel once stood. Tram by Tatra. (KT-4).Somehow I failed to record one of those iconic circular shell restaurants in this street, the Cafe Rendezvous from the same period as the Haus der Kultur. Tram 317 was sold to Tallinn as no 124 in 1996 and withdrawn n 2009. The Interhotel Gera was demolished 8 years later in 1997.

This hotel was used as a bedding down place for visitors to the Leipzig fairs, and it featured a fine mosaic inside it on the subject of Peoples' Friendship (Volkerfreundshaft). Probably lost.
