Description
English: Little sample of dry et compact plate of tartar crystals (Potassium bitartrate) with common impureties (coming from wine during his maturation), called in french "tartre de vin" , "tartre des tonneaux", "tartre des barriques". Size : 10 cm x 10 cm x 12 cm X 4 cm with a thickness around 1 cm. It's the side more tarnished and more brownish lookink slightly curved wood. Before the cleaning of the empty barrel, the winegrower has to break the dry layer of tartar. Collection André Kloecklé, provenant du nettoyage annuel de grand fût en bois du viticulteur Greiner-Schleret à Mittelwihr in Haut-Rhin (Alsace). The right side is seen in File:Tartre de vin d'Alsace.jpg.
