Description
English: The Colossal Blantek Ronggeng Dance for the MURI record, took place at the Bekasi Regency Complex, October 18, 2015.

The blantek dance (ronggeng blantek), is taken from the Dutch theatrical performance, namely the blantek mask, where in starting a performance, as an opening, it begins with a dance performance (ronggeng blantek).

The emergence of ronggeng blantek cannot be separated from the Betawi arts development project held by the DKI Jakarta local government since 1970. This is based on the fact that the rapid modernization has more or less marginalized Betawi traditional arts. So, a Betawi Tradition Workshop was held to raise awareness of the Betawi community for its existence. Various dances are created based on traditions that have long existed in Betawi culture.

Tari blantek (ronggeng blantek), diangkat dari pertunjukan teater Belanda, yaitu topeng blantek, di mana dalam memulai suatu pertunjukan, sebagai pembukaan, diawali dengan sebuah pertunjukan tari (ronggeng blantek).

Kemunculan ronggeng blantek tak bisa dipisahkan dari proyek pengembangan kesenian Betawi yang diadakan pemerintah daerah DKI Jakarta sejak 1970. Hal ini didasari pesatnya modernisasi sedikit banyak telah membuat kesenian tradisional Betawi terpinggirkan. Maka, diadakan Lokakarya Tradisi Betawi untuk membangkitkan kesadaran masyarakat Betawi atas eksistensinya. Beragam tari dikreasikan dengan bersumber pada tradisi-tradisi yang telah lama ada dalam kebudayaan Betawi.
