Українська: Гамалія. Полотно, олія (30 × 28). [1842]. ДМШ, інв. № ж — 97.
За твердженням колишнього власника В. Б. Антоновича, цю картину, як свій твір, Шевченко нібито подарував художнику Ф. Ткаченку, який в свою чергу подарував її Антоновичу. З такими даними картина вперше була експонована у 1899 р. на виставці старовинних художніх речей та картин у Києві (див. «Археологическая летопись Южной России», 1899, стор. 34). З цього часу вона традиційно увійшла в літературу як твір Шевченка. Порушення історичної відповідності в костюмах персонажів картини, що не властиво творам Шевченка, а також техніка письма, чужа олійним творам Шевченка, вимагають додаткової перевірки щодо авторства. |
