Description
Català: Tapís, L'arribada de Psiquis al temple de l'amor, Museu de Belles Arts de València. França, finals del segle XVII. Llana i seda, 318 x 444 cm.

Representa Psique acompanyada per un grup de joves belles, vestides amb túniques, que es dirigeixen dansant a l'altar de l'amor. Entre elles flameja el foc sagrat en un peveter roig. Cupido apareix assegut rodejat d'abundant vegetació i una cortina de vellut roig enllaçada en una branca. Al costat esquerre de l'escena apareix difuminat una paisatge muntanyós amb edficis clàssics.

Destaca la composició, el colorit i la tècnica depurada de les túniques, que aconsegueixen unes veladures i uns jocs de llum i ombra sorprenents. Podria tractar-se d'una obra de l'entorn de Nicolas von Plattenberg, teixida en els tallers de Lilla, Beauvais i Gobelins.

La història de Psique la va incloure Apuleu en L'Ase d'Or i Rafael la va representar en els frescos de la Villa Farnesina d'Agostino Chigi a Roma
