Description
Español: Una representación esquemática de los núcleos hipotalámicos y la distribución de tanicitos sobre la pared del tercer ventrículo (III-V).

( A) Vista coronal de la ubicación aproximada de los núcleos hipotalámicos y tanicitos.
Los ependimocitos ciliados (ep) recubren la pared dorsal del III-V.
Los tanicitos α1d (α1d) y los tanicitos α1v (α1v) tienen proyecciones largas que hacen contacto con las neuronas del VMN. Los α2 ‐ tancitos (α2) tienen proyecciones hacia el AN y los vasos sanguíneos.
En una sección más ventral del III-V, los β1d-tanicitos (β1d) y los β1v-tanicitos (β1v) hacen proyecciones hacia el AN, haciendo contacto con neuronas orexigénicas y anorexígenas y vasos sanguíneos.

En el piso del III-V, los β2la-tanicitos (β2la) y los β2me-tanicitos (β2me) están unidos por uniones estrechas que forman parte de la barrera de la eminencia media (ME)-líquido cefalorraquídeo (LCR), y sus proyecciones hacen contacto con los vasos sanguíneos fenestrados del ME.
