Description

Tamil protesters block Place Republic. About 20,000 Tamils and their supporters shut down several major intersections over the weekend. Since the war in Sri Lanka this Spring and Summer, many Tamils have left Sri Lanka for Paris where they have much support from the Tamil community in Paris.

The protestors were contained by several brigades of CRS forces and gendarmerie troops.

Starting in 2009, the CRS (special riot police) and gendarmerie (military police) have been essentially under the same roof so you'll see them working together often.
