Summary
DescriptionTaking a radiograph of an ankle (Rankin Kennedy, Electrical Installations, Vol V, 1903).jpg |
English: Taking a radiograph of an ankle using early Crookes tube x-ray apparatus in 1903. The Crookes x-ray tube is suspended in front of the physician. The box (right) contained the Ruhmkorff coil (induction coil) which produced the high voltage for the tube. The wall power panel (center) contains the mercury turbine interrupter that provided the primary current for the coil. Note that no precautions are taken against radiation exposure; its dangers were not known at the time. |
