This hotel was opened on December 16, 1903.

The Taj Mahal Palace in South Mumbai was built on the edge of the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea, and is the city's most famous hotel. This view was made before the Gateway of India was erected in the foreground in 1911. Today the hotel also includes a modern tower.
