| Description | After the disappointments in the hotel the previous evening, today had started off pretty well. Three prize sightings so far this morning: the erstwhile airbase fire station, the shanty town inside a cemetery and yes, the piece de resistance for me at least, a train in the Philippines! The day only got better as we moved on. We are now in an orchid farm in the Tagaytay Highlands. This place of rolling plains and a salubrious climate is a great relief from the Manila's constant traffic snarls, intense heat, and pollution The Tagaytay Highlands are situated some 50odd km south of Manila in the Province of Cavite, a popular province in Luzon. Tagaytay City is covered with beautiful mountains, forests, and open grasslands that vary in elevation. Moreover, there are numerous fruit and flower farms that further contribute to the beauty of the place. So here we are then, in one of them. The office and sales counter is at the far end. Nice touch, I feel, where you can enjoy a walk in the flower garden before you buy some orchids. Most nurseries keep their sale counter at the gate and prohibit entry into the garden itself.
