Inscription InfoField | Das Rasenlabyrinth von Graitschen auf der Höhe Eine genaue Deutung dieses in Thüringen einmaligen Bodendenkmals ist schwierig. Allein die unterschiedlichen Bezeichnungen wie „Trojaburg“ oder „Schwedenhieb“ zeigen, dass man diese Anlage nicht eindeutig zuordnen konnte. Mit der Bezeichnung Trojaburg verweist man auf die griechische Mythologie, in der Labyrinthe um 1.400 v. u. Z. vorkommen (Knossos). Die Bezeichnung Schwedenhieb stellt einen eventuellen Zusammenhang mit der nordischen Mythologie her. Im skandinavischen Raum sind solche Labyrinthe schon in der Bronzezeit nachgewiesen. Dabei handelt es sich um ähnliche Anlagen, die aber aus Steinen gesetzt sind. Es wird vermutet, dass diese zur Verehrung der Sonne durchtanzt wurden. Die Sage berichtet - deshalb auch der Name Schwedenhieb - dass hier im 30-jährigen Krieg ein schwedischer Soldat mit einer Kanone bestattet worden sei. Zur Erinnerung an seine Heimat hätten die Soldaten das Labyrinth auf dem Grab angelegt. Die ältesten schriftlichen Überlieferungen zu dieser Anlage stammen aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert. Ursprünglich lag das Labyrinth nicht auf einem Hügel, sondern war, wie auch das in Steigra an der Unstrut liegende, ebenerdig. Der Hügel entstand erst im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert durch Kiesabbau.
