Notes The custom of tea-drinking was increasingly popular, almost a national addiction, as a social activity hence the development of small ‘china-tables’ for use in the home. This circular version, with tripod base and tilting top, is edged with a pierced fret gallery to prevent delicate and fragile tea things from being swept off.
