Description

St. Lunaire-Griquet, Newfoundland. The cavalcade of Great Northern Peninsula towns along Route 436 continues with this one, which is, if I'm not mistaken, the largest town this far north on the island. The product of an amalgamation in 1958, St. Lunaire-Griquet is a place that boasts a mixed English and French heritage; where, even more than elsewhere in Newfoundland, life today goes on much as in the past: the annual seal hunt is a matter of economic necessity for many locals, and fishing remains the linchpin of the economy.

Saint-Lunaire-Griquet, Terre-Neuve.
