Spring Garden, Halifax, Nova Scotia. There are plenty of churches in the vicinity of the Old Burying Ground; St. Matthew's United Church is another one. It was founded in 1749, making it one of the oldest extant congregations in Halifax, and for its first years it bore the interesting name of the "Protestant Dissenting Church" - it was a catch-all congregation for those colonists who were not Anglican, though in time it came to be dominated by Presbyterians. The current building dates to 1858, a year after the original one was lost to a fire. Spring Garden, Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse.
