| Description |
Gilbert's Cove, Nova Scotia. Looking out over St. Mary's Bay. Demographically speaking, this area - especially the south shore of the bay, i.e. where I was - is still majority Francophone Acadian, with an accent that's distinct even from neighbouring parts of Acadia, let alone what they speak in Paris. Sadly, I missed out on it, choosing instead to dip my toes into Acadian culture at Chéticamp, where "standard" Acadian French rules the day. Gilbert's Cove, Nouvelle-Écosse. Une vue sur la Baie Sainte-Marie. Quant à la démographie, cette région-ci - en particulier la rive sud de la baie, à savoir là où j'étais - est encore acadienne et francophone dans sa majorité, avec un accent qui est distinct même des parties voisines de l'Acadie, encore moins de ce qu'on parle à Paris. Malheureusement, je l'ai raté, car j'avais choisi plutôt de m'aventurer dans la culture acadienne à Chéticamp, là où le français acadien «standard» est la règle. Gilbert's Cove, Nueva Escocia. Una vista sobre la Bahía de Santa María. En cuanto a la demografía, esta región - especialmente la orilla sureña de la bahía; es decir, cuando yo estaba - está todavía es francófona y acadiana en su mayoría, con un acento que es distinta aún de partes vecinas de Acadia, sin habler de lo que se habla en París. Por desgracia, me lo perdí, eligiendo en lugar de eso de tomar mi muestra de la cultura acadiana en Chéticamp, donde el francés acadiano "estándar" es la norma. |
