Description A U.S. Navy Grumman TBM-3R Avenger (BuNo 53581) of transport squadron VR-5 on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Boxer (CVA-21) operating off the coast of California (USA), in the early 1950s. VR-5 performed Carrier On-board Delivery (COD) duties, transporting personnel, mail, and cargo between ships and from ship to shore.
