Note that the Avenger launches towards the stern. Naval Air Transport Squadron VR-22 was commissioned in late 1950 at the U.S. Naval Air Station Norfolk (Virginia, USA). The squadron was disestablished in 1967. The photo was probably taken in the early 1950s. |
