Description
English: Stone head found in April 1834 in the cathedral of Maillezais. According to a tradition, it could be a portrait of Geoffroy à la Grand'Dent (Geoffroy Big Tooth). Print in Thomas Adolphus Trollope (1810-1892), A summer in western France, 1841, p. 114.
Français : Dessin représentant une tête de statue retrouvée en avril 1834 dans l'église cathédrale de Maillezais, censée selon la tradition représenter Geoffroy à la Grand'Dent. Ne comportant pas la dent légendaire, cette statue représente Geoffroy II de Lusignan et est érigée au XVIè siècle dans l'église de Maillezais sur un cénotaphe construit en l'honneur de Geoffroy : cf. présentation effectuée par l'association Conseil des musées de Poitou-Charentes. Reproduit dans Thomas Adolphus Trollope (1810-1892), A summer in western France, 1841, p. 114.
