Description

This is a brilliant cut, synthetic ruby. Ruby is aluminum oxide (Al2O3). In nature, this chemical is called corundum. Red-colored, gem-quality corundum is called "ruby". Specimens of any other color are called "sapphire". Corundum has a nonmetallic luster, can be any color, has a white streak, and a hardness of 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. It forms hexagonal crystals with flat ends and has no cleavage.
