Notes: See commentary below on dating. On the footpath is a Macfarlane patent no. 8, cast iron, canopied, drinking fountain; imported from Glasgow and installed by Mayor Rennie. The first batch of fountains was imported in 1870 at a cost of £27/10/0 each plus 12/- to incorporate the City of Sydney coat of arms.
