Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy sword-belt mount of post-Medieval date (1500-1700).

The object is mainly flat and has a thickness of 1.7mm although the transverse element at one end has a thickness of 4.4mm. It has a central circular aperture flanked on either side by a three-lobed border. Immediately to each side of this section is a narrower 'waisted' section, each containing a rivet hole (one rivet hole is filled with the remains of an iron rivet. The end section has a straight-edge decorated with ‘rope-work’ At the opposite end an extending arm has an integral transverse element set at a higher level then the remaining part of the mount. The mount has a mid-green patchy patina.

42.4 x 16.2 x 4.4mm. Weight: 4.74g.

This mount appears similar to a suit of fittings thought to be from 16th - 17th century sword belts that also include toggle fastenings with similar shapes and decoration. See Read 2008: 208-209, refs: 753-754 for similar examples.
