Notes British Pattern 1822-1845 Infantry Officers Levee sword and scabbard Notes- scabbard worn at end (indicates use and being dragged on ground) ref. Robson- fig. 124, pp 116-117 (pattern 1822); and fig. 128, page 119 (Pattern 1845) blade length and width- 32 1-2in. x 1 1-8in. blade type- pattern 1845 (Wilkinson blade) - wide deep fuller extending from within 1 1-2in. of shoulder to within 10in. of spear point; tang carried up through pommel to end in a tang button. guard- gilt brass, with sword knot slit near pommel hilt mounts- gilt brass with lions head pommel (.) grip- wood covered in fishskin and bound with brass wire. scabbard- black leather, gilt chape, band and locket with large shoe; loose ring and frog stud on locket; loose ring on band. sword weight- scabbard weight- 13oz. Notes- 1845 pattern continued until 1854
