| Description |
Local train just past the uphill switch (to the right facing the mountain) on Nariz del Diablo - or "the Devil's Nose" - south of Alausi, Ecuador and operated by Tren Ecuador on the Guayaquil-Quito Railway. The conductor is returning to the train after changing the switch (the train is heading down the Devil's Nose and to the south toward Huigra). I took this from a lookout across the valley with a 400mm telephoto lens. This photo was taken from an observation point across the valley from the "nose". We later rode our train (which is the one sitting on the siding with the locomotive disconnected) up Devil's Nose for the railway highlight of our trip. |
