Description
English: B-B Diesel-Hydraulic beside an LNE B1 4-6-0 at Swindon Station.
View NE, towards Didcot, and London by the ex-GW main line also Oxford, Banbury and the North. LNER locomotives worked daily down the ex-GC and via Banbury and Oxford to Swindon on a Parcles to Bristol daily, but only on Sunday on a passenger train - the 09.30 from Sheffield Victoria to Swindon. Here we see Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 61373 (built 12/50, withdrawn 9/62) on this train. At the adjoining platform is the 15.30 stopping train to Westbury with Hymek B-B Diesel-Hydraulic (later Class 35) No. D7007 (built 10/61, withdrawn 3/72). (I and the other oafs in the photograph had been on an RCTS visit to the Works - but I had driven there by car!).
