| Description |
English: Up 'Capitals United Express' waiting to leave Swansea High Street Station. View southward, towards the buffer-stops; ex-GWR South Wales main line. The locomotive is a recently double-chimneyed 'Castle' 4-6-0, No. 5056 'Earl of Powis' (built 6/36 as 'Ogmore Castle', renamed 9/37, withdrawn 11/64). The train had left Milford Haven at 11.10, reversing here and taking on the 'Castle'; it was due into Paddington at 18.00. Note that the engine lacks the 'Capitals United' headboard. |
