English: St. Blasius FestThe most important annual festival for Dubrovnik citizens will take place 2nd to 10th of February St. Blaise's Feast is celebrated on the Feb 3rd each year, since 972, more than a thousand years and it is the most popular religious feast in Dubrovnik. People come to Dubrovnik from the whole of the surrounding area, dressed in picturesque national costumes, to take part in an impressive procession The fest of St. Blasius, Dubrovnik city protector saint, has its roots in the history of the Dubrovnik Republic. Namely, on the days of the St. Blasius all the "guilty" for whatever could enter the city without being hunted by the government, and it was more of a public fest than anything else. Today, the Fest is opened by the glamorous troubadours play while the flag of the city is being put on the Orland's statue. |
