Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This diagram summarises a sustainable economy and the organisational logics within it. It describes what a sustainable purpose of a business is (focused on the ultimate ends of the economy while preserving/restoring the ultimate means), compared to business-as-usual (BAU) and CSR/BAU (focuses on driving intermediate ends via intermediate means), enlightened self-value (ESV) (driving intermediate ends via ultimate means) and purpose (driving ultimate ends via intermediate (and not necessarily ultimate means). It is a modification of Donella Meadow's 1998 modification of Herman Daly's (1973) 'triangle' of a sustainable economy.

IIRC's six capitals model informs the capital categorisations.

Thanks to Cara Stewart for helping with the graphics and Iain Stewart for helping me refine and clarify the presentation.
